Different than car amps.
It says 250 watts of power, I’m running an audio acoustica gothic from Walmart. Before I had the speaker paired with the matching amp, says 2500 watts but really put out about 600 at 2ohm. I’ve got the speaker wired up to 8ohm for this amp, and it hits harder than the car one previously mentioned. I guess what I’m trying to say it may be a lower wattage than what you would probably want for your speaker, but because it’s plugged into the wall it has a higher amperage output than car audio. This little thing is not to be underrated because of the “250 watt” it’s labeled at. You can also hook it up to 250 watt power plug and the amp bumps up to 400watt, it’s not mentioned on the sight. This also needs to be mentioned, the amp is rated for 4ohm or 8 ohm, not 6 or 2. If you had an amp blow out ... It says 250 watts of power, I’m running an audio acoustica gothic from Walmart. Dayton SPA250 replacement amp for Velodyne vlf-1012
My faithful Velodyne vlf-1012 amp finally kicked the bucket. Debated if I should repair it or get a new sub. Repairing the amp didn't made much sense since it was about 20 years old meaning that it would take a full rebuild and most likely cost me an arm and a leg and no guarantee it would perform like new or last. Getting a new sub didn't made much sense either since it is a solid build speaker and still love it a lot regardless of it's age. Searched around and came across the Dayton spa250 which has similar specs and functions but moreover, a perfect fit in the opening. Decided to give it a shot for the price was right. Can't say I'm disappointed. Other than not having the option to switch between an internal or external crossover and that I had to extend the speaker cables it turned out ... Nice, clean, powerful amp, for cheap, with great features and build quality.
This is a very nice sub amp for pretty cheap. It has some nice features like the phase switch, and the high and low level inputs. Plus i like that you can switch the power to 220v too. This puts out a tab more power than its rated for too, so thats a bonus. I have it running an MTX Thunder 7000 15" car audio sub in a sealed box and it sounds great. Granted this is WAY underpowered, it still sounds clean and clear and never distorts. The amp does get kind of warm when pushed hard for a long movie or something but has never shut off, or overheated. Overall a really nice amp for a low price. Good amplifier
Good amp for those who want to build their own home powered sub. I decided instead of spending $1400 for new home theater speakers I would just build my own. I paired it with 4 ohm 10” kicker car sub to get the full 250 watts out of it. Sounds really clean. It was well worth the price.

I have only been using it for a week but it seems to be performing satisfactorily so far. The auto on/off feature does not seem to be working but this is not a deal breaker as I have hooked up a remote on/off switch.
